Action Steps
Action Steps
So you have been scammed/conned/ripped off? It sounded too good to be true and it was? Yes I can sympathise with you – it is a dreadful feeling…. however if it is now ruling your life, causing you too much pain and you find you are going backwards at an ever increasing rate then there are some things you need to do.
1. I trust you have informed the relevant authorities to help take this person out of action eg here in Australia that would be ASIC or the ACCC.
2. You need to forgive yourself!! It is ok – you would be amazed how many people have been scammed in some shape or form. I understand the feelings of humiliation, despair, blame and regret however you need to get over them. This has happened for a reason and is going to ultimately end up changing you for the better or worse – so ensure it is for the better! There are some great lessons for you to learn about yourself in this experience.
3. You need to stop blaming the spruiker/swindler/conman – unless they held a gun to your head it was ultimately your choice and being the type of salesperson and opportunist they are they were taking advantage of an opportunity – you and your money. Report them to all and sundry and then get over it as your hate/revenge etc will do nothing but eat you up and they will certainly not be feeling it themselves.
4. Get your finances in order immediately. Get a solid grip on your situation and the action you will need to take – make the hard decisions. Get over worrying how you will look or what others will think and just do it.
5. What can you learn from this so it doesn’t happen again? Have confidence in yourself – do whatever it takes to get happy and boost your self esteem again. You must have been successful to have had the money to invest in the first place so you can easily get back there again as long as you don’t keep making the same mistakes and looking to others to help you. Make your own decisions and stick by them.
What you will also undoubtedly need to do is overcome your fears as this will just keep attracting more of the same. Work on your confidence – find the confidence in yourself that I definitely know you have. Believe in your own abilities. You know that a conman is short for “confidence man” – the only difference between you and the person who scammed you was that they had more confidence in themselves than you did. Once you believe in yourself again you will find amazing things happening. It is also probably a great idea to get more in touch with your intuition and follow it. You might also want to crack some old limiting beliefs that might have led you to make the mistakes you made in the first place.
Sound a bit harsh? Well unfortunately what has happened to you is harsh however it has happened and there is no going back – concentrate on moving forward and on finding all the good you do have. For us it was realising we still had each other and the love, appreciation and gratitude we have found in being together and realising we are all still ok (wealthy or not) is enormous. It is amazing how much appreciation you can find in the smallest things. I know you can find the good also. I am here for you if you need to ask any questions.
Have you been conned?
Have you been conned and find it overwhelming? Are you so overtaken by feelings of hate, embarrassment, shame, fear, blame or despair that you don’t know how you can possibly move forward? Please get in touch with me or make a comment as I may be able to help you. It may even help you to read my book and realise what you are feeling is normal and healthy however you will need to get over these feelings in order to recover and not make matters worse for yourself or your family.
I guess my book is really about HOW we came to be conned in the first place – what it was that led us to seek out someone else to help us in our wealth creation when we were already wealthy and had done it on our own. It is also about what kept us from improving our situation once we hit skid row. What we learnt from the whole experience has grown us immeasurably – it is amazing. If we can recover I know anyone can. EVERYONE has their own demons and own stories. We are truly lucky ours was just financial and not our health or family. We are all here to grow from our experiences.
Do you have a story to share?
Do you have a story that you would like to share and maybe help others? Anything relating to wealth creation schemes, fraud, scams, cons, gurus, mentors, coaches in real estate, shares or other types of investment. Perhaps how you have recovered from the experience and what you have learnt that might assist someone else? Please speak up as it may help you to share your feelings and experiences as it has helped me. Everyone has a story if life – it is all about the challenges and struggles we go through and how we deal with these that help us realise who we are and what we have to give in this world.
Have a great day! Cheers Tracey
