Hi and welcome. I am an extremely lucky wife and mother of 3 gorgeous children. I am an accountant by profession currently working from home as a book-keeper. For the last 3 years we have been living on the Sunshine Coast. Prior to that we lived on the coast in North Queensland, owned and managed a 60,000 acre sheep and cattle property in outback Queensland and had numerous rental properties as well as a blue chip share portfolio and other assets and  investments.

My husband and I were the target for a very elaborate conman and his associated companies and I have written a book about our experiences, how easily we were taken in and what others should look out for. We lost many millions in the experience and were amongst hundreds of other couples. Ultimately we were left hundreds of thousands in debt with the conman going scotfree – despite our lawyers efforts and those of the various government regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies.

We always had the capability to do things ourselves yet had no belief in ourselves or any self esteem which is why we sought out the conman in the first place. We now know we were on the right track ourselves from the start – which is why we had the money to invest initially!

We allowed our experience to almost destroy our lives and our family. Our embarrassment and shame froze us into inaction and hiding from everyone as well as continually attracting worse situations.

I am amazed by just how prevalent these schemes and conmen/women are and how many people are taken in (and more than once). I am writing our story to entertain and inform, to convey key messages to people about lessons that we learnt through our experiences and perhaps bring others some relief.

I also wish to help people considering doing something similar think twice. My fervent desire is to warn others of how easily these conmen operate and fool others –so education on how easily it is done & convincing it can be is paramount as well as bringing humour to those who see how ridiculous it all is.
